(At the studio apartment where Junko chan lives.
Ring, ring.... The phone rings....) |
潤子ちゃん： はい、もしもし |
Junko chan: Hello. |
潤子ちゃんの母： 潤子か？あんたいつ帰ってくんの？ |
Junko's mother: Junko? Tell me, when are you coming home? |
潤子ちゃん： なんや～お母さんか。お正月のこと？ごめんやけど、帰られへんわ |
Junko chan: Oh, it's you, mommy. You mean a new year's holiday? Sorry I can't go home. |
潤子ちゃんの母： なんでやの！？大晦日はすき焼きとうどんすきがええってお父さん が言うてたのに、わざわざあんたの好きなたぬきそばにしたんよ |
Junko's mother: Why can't you? Your father had insisted on eating sukiyaki and udon suki on New Year's Eve, but I've decided to go to the bother of making tanuki soba for you as it's your favorite food. |
潤子ちゃん： えーちょっと用事があって（シェフチェンコ部長をデートに誘わな なくっちゃ…） |
Junko chan: Ah, well, actually I have something to do.... (I have to ask Mr. Shevchenko out..) |
潤子ちゃんの母： それはそうと、お父さんが言うてたよ。潤子ももうええかげんこっ ちに帰ってきたらいいのにって |
Junko's mother: More importantly, your father was saying that you should give it up and come home sometime soon. |
潤子ちゃん： え～そっち帰ってなにすんの？どうせ結婚、結婚言うくせに |
Junko chan: Oh, no. What am I supposed to do after returning there? Anyway, I suspect you're just going to keep nagging me to marry someone. |

Junko's mother: The other day, your father told me after taking a look at a brochure in the newspapers that Supermarket Marutan is hiring permanent employees. You know, I do want him to stop cutting his toenails on the unfolded newspaper. Really. Where has the brochure gone? Daddy, daddy! A permanent employee at a supermarket is a stable job to have, and it sounds pretty decent in this neighborhood when you have this kind of work. Your father said so, yes, that's what he said. |
潤子ちゃん： え～、あそこ１階のギフトコーナーで中学のときの友達が働いてる からいややわ。わたし、こっちの人と結婚して、こっちでずっと暮 らすもん |
Junko chan: Actually, one of my friends from junior high school has been working at the gift shop on the first floor of that building, so I don't like it there. I'm going to marry someone in this country and live here for good. |
