Rodriguez: Ahem...... Shi, Shizuka san, thank you for coming all the way to see me today while you're so busy. |
しずかちゃん： ご足労だなんて、そんな言葉つかわないで、ロド。それに、しずか “さん”もやめて。まるで他人行儀―― |
Shizuka chan: Please don't say "thank you for coming all the way to see me..." like that, Rod. Besides, I don't want you to call me "Shizuka san". It sounds very distant. |
給仕： お客さま、本日はいかがいたしましょう？ |
Waiter: What would you like to have tonight, Sir? |
ロドリゲス： え？なんでもいいよ、そちらにお任せするよ （しずかちゃんに向きなおり）あ…そうか…そうだったね。すまない、 しずか…ちゃん |
Rodriguez: Anything is OK. You can choose and bring whatever you recommend. (turning back to face Shizuka chan) Ah, yes, yes, sorry, Shizuka chan... |
給仕： さようでございますか。本日のおすすめは、なんといってもオマール えびのグラタンでしょうか。カナダ産の新鮮―― |
Waiter: Certainly. Today's recommendation is Omar shrimp gratin. Canadian fresh..... |
ロドリゲス： ああそ、じゃ、オマールえびのグラタンで |
Rodriguez: OK, then, I will take the Omar shrimp gratin. |
給仕： かしこまりました（その場を離れる） |
Waiter: Certainly. (leaving the table) |
ロドリゲス： オホン…。今日、君をここへ呼んだのは、ほかでもない… |
Rodriguez: Ahem...... the reason why I asked you to come over here today is nothing but..... |
しずかちゃん： わたし、うれしかったわ。ロドとまたこうしてふたりっきりで会える なんて、夢にも思わなかったもの。あ、夢には見たけどね |
Shizuka chan: I was so happy when you asked me. I never thought that I could see you just the two of us again. Ah, well, I mean I dreamed about it, though. |
ロドリゲス： あ、いや、そ、そうだね。こうして君と向かいあっているのが、まる で夢のようだよ… |
Rodriguez: Ah, well, that's right. I feel like I'm dreaming sitting face to face with you.... |
（沈黙がぎこちなく流れる。緊張を紛らわすかのように、ひたすら料理に舌つづみを

しずかちゃん： （ヒソヒソ声で）ねえ、ロド。さっき食べた料理がオマールえびのグ ラタンだったのかしら？でも全然グラタンぽくなかったわ |
Shizuka chan: (whispering) Say, Rod. Do you think the food we just had was Omar shrimp gratin? It didn't taste like gratin at all. |
ロドリゲス： ん…？そうだね…グラタンにしちゃ、ぜんぜんあったかくなかったな… |
Rodriguez: Well....? Right....... As a gratin, it wasn't hot at all..... |
しずかちゃん： もしかしたら、高級フレンチのグラタンは冷めてるのかもしれないわ！ |

Waiter: .....Oh, are you leaving now, Sir? If you could have waited a bit longer, we could have brought you the Omar shrimp gratin.... |
ロドリゲス： なに！？さっきのは、グラタンじゃなかったのか！？ |
Rodriguez: What!? The dish we had wasn't gratin!? |
